Make Sure You Know Your Responsibilities to Companies House
As a director, you’re legally responsible for running the company and making sure information is sent to us on time.
This includes:
the confirmation statement
the annual accounts, even if they’re dormant
any change in your company’s officers or their personal details
a change to your company’s registered office
allotment of shares
registration of charges (mortgage)
any change in your company’s people with significant control (PSC) details
Companies House is now emailing company directors to let them know about key changes affecting how company information can be filed. These updates are part of the new Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act.
From now on, only authorised and supervised agents (known as ACSPs) will be allowed to file documents on behalf of companies. This means that anyone submitting information for your company (like us, as your agent) must be properly registered and supervised for anti-money laundering (AML) purposes.
What this means for you:
You may receive an email directly from Companies House explaining these changes.
There’s nothing you need to do right now, but it’s important you know that these changes are happening.
Going forward, Companies House will reject filings from agents who aren’t authorised under the new rules.
Paying Your Corporation Tax Bill
If you have a corporation tax liability (tax on profits from trading business activity) you will only get this document to tell you how much and where to pay. HMRC will not send a bill and this MUST be paid. This is usually 9 months and 1 day after the end of your ‘accounting period’.
EXAMPLE: Financial year 01/01/2024 – 31/12/2025. Payment to be made by 01/10/2026.
Making an online or telephone bank transfer is the easiest way.
You can pay HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) by Faster Payments, CHAPS or Bacs.

You MUST use your 17-character Corporation Tax payment reference number for the accounting period you’re paying.
You’ll find your reference number: on your ‘notice to deliver your tax return’ or on any reminders from HMRC in your company’s HMRC online account and again on the company tax return we are sending you.
Your payment reference number changes with each accounting period, so you’ll need to use a different one each time you pay.
Your payment may be delayed if you use the wrong reference number.
